No, Seriously

Renton, WA - After officially recognizing Oathbreaker back in March, Wizards of the Coast has issued an exciting statement regarding the format's future, stating official support is, "Right around the corner, somewhere after we return to Lorwyn, or maybe Rabiah."

"The success of Universes Beyond definitely made us rethink our to-do list," said a Wizards employee who wished to remain anonymous. "It meant pushing back certain things we wanted to do before Oathbreaker, like our Tiny Leaders precons."

Other items slated to be on the docket before Oathbreaker support include a second round of Brawl decks, Commander Collection Green: Part 4, and the very exciting sounding Triple Masters 2033.

"You wouldn't guess it right now, but Davriel Cane is going to be a big part of Magic's story in a few years, so it really just makes more sense to get a Signature Spellbook: Davriel out first," one Magic designer explained, going on to say, "you could maybe even use that for Oathbreaker. Right? It has something to do with signature spells. Well, I have a bit of time to figure out how it all works."

Wizards of the Coast concluded by saying that they know fans are excited for official Oathbreaker support and they want it to feel very special when it happens. "It honestly makes the most sense to roll it into our Magic 50 celebration. We think it will really take the heat off of our plan to put a serialized Black Lotus in one of our Vault Packs. You'll find out what those are in a few years."
