Edge of Eternities Introduces New 3-Sided Eldrazi

Renton, WA - With Final Fantasy officially hitting stores this month, it's time to immediately dive into spoiler season for future product launches! And what could satiate a shareholder's unquenchable thirst for profit more than us speculating wildly about an entirely new card frame and mechanic from the upcoming Edge of Eternities set due out this fall?

Commander's Herald is here with an unofficial, completely speculative, totally-not-legit sneak peak at 3-sided Eldrazi!

What Might a 3-Sided Eldrazi Look Like?

We know very little of what's in store for Edge of Eternities, but we do know that it will involve space and be a part of Magic: the Gathering's core IP. Two things that gel extremely well together, no questions asked! But Commander's Herald was able to speculate a sneak peak in our own imaginations about a new type of card frame that could, maybe, possibly be part of the set.

At this point, two-sided cards just aren't exciting anymore. Whether they transform, exile and flip themselves over, or meld with another card, two-sided cards are old news. They're still confusing as hell, but they're not new. Three-sided cards though, now we're getting somewhere....

First Speculation: Transtransformform.

Here, we imagine the card has a front side with a triggered ability that transforms it onto its second, back side. That side would then have a second transform ability, a transtransformform ability if you will, that flips the card onto a third side that only exists in the realm of theoretical physics. Don't think about it too hard or your head might explode. It'll be cool, trust us.

Second Speculation: the Mobius Card Frame

What if a Magic: the Gathering card had no beginning, end, or faces at all. Welcome to the Mobius card frame! Originally slated for Modern Horizons 7, we speculate that Wizards of the Coast moved the Mobius card frame up several years to scare off all the new players Final Fantasy and other Universes Beyond product have brought into the game. They did it before with Time Spiral block, why not do it again?

Final Speculation: Liquid Cards

Finally, let's think about what a Magic: the Gathering card made out of something other than cardboard. What if it were made of ink, mercury, or some other type of toxic-but-beautiful-liquid. The possibilities are limitless, mesmerizing, and poisonous. We wouldn't even need to stop at three sides! Liquids don't even believe in sides.

On the plus side, errata-ing Magic cards is infinitely easier if they're constantly changing shape and never sit still. That might make them impossible to print, but it certainly won't stop us from buying them.

What ridiculous new nonsense are you expecting in Edge of Eternities? Feel free to speculate wildly in the comments below.
