Arena Player Has Great Idea for Deck He'll Play Against Never-Ending Stream of Red Decks

Maumee, OH - Local Magic: The Gathering: Arena player Dale Homogonos spent the week excitedly designing a new deck to play in the game against a group of exclusively mono-red opponents.
Homogonos, a big fan of deckbuilding games, was recommended Arena by a friend and surprised by how much freedom he has to constantly lose to red decks in the app.
"I'm amazed at all the different ways you can play in this game," Homogonos explained while looking at the handful of cards he's gained as a free-to-play Arena player. "You can eventually make so many decks. I mean, that's why people play Magic, right? I'm new to the whole thing, but I get that one of the reasons people like this so much is how much deck diversity there is. You can make almost anything you want, and then watch as it's crushed almost immediately by a 20/20 Heartfire Hero.
"So I took the cards I had and made a new deck. It's mono-green, and has a lot of big creatures I can power out quickly with everyone's favorite mana dork, Llanowar Elves. My favorite plays are turn-one Forest into Elves, excitedly passing my turn since I know I can play a Pugnacious Hammerskull next turn, then watching my opponent Shock the Elves to power up their Monastery Swiftspear. As quickly as it starts, the match is over, but that's great cuz it means I get to start another one!"
Putting over 100 hours into the game since starting last month, Homogonos still has fun fighting the same kinds of opponents over and over again.
"And it's wild how Magic has so many games within it, and not just other formats like Commander and Modern. There's a few cards on Arena that use coin flips as a mechanic, plus playing Best of One Ranked is just a coin flip. Either my opponent burns my face by turn 3, or I win because they run out of gas. I know people might think it's boring, but I love roguelikes, like Balatro and Slay the Spire. Arena is just like that: you constantly make decks that lose in those games, too, only you don't have to fight a Screaming Nemesis in Inscryption."
At press time, Homogonos stopped playing his green deck and finally decided to make a red deck, only to be paired against nothing but mono-black discard.
