After Supply Chain Issues, Reality Fracture Prerelease A “BYOC” Event

Duluth, MN – Due to shipping delays local game shop Rob’s Collectables and Geekery is worried they will not receive cards from Magic: the Gathering‘s upcoming set Reality Fracture even though the prerelease events are supposed to begin this weekend.

However, owner and proprietor Rob Grandview is still running a prerelease but calling it a “bring your own cards” event.

“This is an innovative new prerelease the likes of which you’ve never seen before,” explained Grandview exaggeratedly while wildly gesticulating. “Reality Fracture is all about showing a new dimension in Magic, one crafted by a mighty planeswalker named Jace Beleren. And, since the players themselves are representing planeswalkers when they play an actual game, it makes sense to make a prerelease event where you can make your own alternate reality!”

“At our upcoming prerelease, rather than us giving you cards, you will bring your own from home. We’ll only allow cards printed within the last three years, let’s say, starting with Wilds of Eldraine. Then, you’ll use these cards along with Geekery-provided Sharpies to make 2 cards in your deck alternate-reality versions. Do you wish you lived in the Echoverse where Molten-Core Maestro was a Merfolk? How about the reality where Spell Pierce hits any spell? Well with my premium prerelease that will cost $5 more than a normal prerelease, you can make it happen!”

Many customers see through the event’s description for the deception involved and have said they will not attend the sham event.

“This is all because Standard hasn’t fired the past five months,” complained Chance Sunsparil, a frequent visitor to Rob’s Collectables. “and Rob needed a way to boost his FNM numbers, so he came up with this nonsense idea. What’s to stop someone from coming in here and drawing ‘I win the game’ at the bottom of their Burst Lightning? People shouldn’t be able to control the multiverse like this, which is a central goddamn message to the product Rob is making a prerelease for, but I guess it’s too much to have him read the story, isn’t it?”

At press time, Rob’s Collectables and Geekery changed owners after a customer came up to Rob with a card altered to say “target player controls target LGS”.
