OPINION: Unlike Sophie Cunningham, The Trans Women I’m Afraid Of Are Real And Playing Meta Decks

Zoe • August 18, 2026

Sophie Cunningham’s pathetic criticisms of hypothetical trans women do not bear repeating. She is a hateful bigot, and worse, a mediocre player trying to blame trans women for seeing ghosts. There are no trans women in the WNBA. Full stop. Why are you talking about us?

If they ever did UB Sophie’s Ego.

But my trans opponents? They are real, and they are beating everyone at my LGS. Doesn’t matter the format – they are bringing decks like Grixis Affinity, Stiflenought, and Doomsday, and winning every single event they show up to. They’re memorizing actuarial tables about the cube we’re drafting. They know ever card in my deck and how to use them better than I do. It has forced me to ask some hard questions. Like am I dogshit at what I do for a living? However, I am not just going to vaguely post headlines asking questions about whether they deserve human dignity.

We all know the real reason Sophie is going after trans women though. Unfortunately it pays better than the WNBA.

Maybe Sophie should focus on working on her own game. She should take a lesson from the t-girls at my LGS and analyze her own stats. Maybe then she’d see she’s averaging less than 10 points a game on sub 50% shooting percentage.

DiJonai did nothing wrong.

Maybe her Player Efficiency Rating wouldn’t be 14% below the average WNBA player’s this season. Maybe she would see less hard fouls.

Heyyy, I'm Command Zoe! I am the Head Writer+ here at Commander's Herald. I am an MtG Influencer who started playing in Urza's Legacy. In Commander, I like to brew off-beat decks that still can compete with stronger lists. I also love to play indie-formats and Cube. I am a #MTGAmbassador. I also stream on Twitch on Wed-Sat-Sun, often times with decks I will end up writing about here. I love this game and this community and I hope my passion for them comes through in my work.
