Local Liberal Decides Now Is A Great Time for a Voting-Themed Commander Deck
Local Game Store, Swing State — Local liberal Connor Cishett White has just decided that today, November 3rd 2026, is the perfect time to debut his new, never-before-seen “policial-slash-voting themed” Commander deck, featuring, of course, Tivit, Seller of Secrets in his Command Zone.
“I just thought it was a really cool idea that I’ve never really seen anybody do before,” says Connor, speaking of a deck idea that everyone had already thought of when Tivit was first released in April 2022. “I mean, come on, it’s a card about voting! Everybody loves voting, right? We gotta vote blue no matter who!”
“He says that, but he won’t ever vote for an even slightly DSA candidate,” says frustrated equipment player Renata Volerio, a frequent member of the same pods as White. “I’ve heard him talk about politics a couple of times before. He agrees that ICE is bad right now, but he’d never dream of abolishing it. He might also just be talking about control effects that tap creatures, actually? It really wasn’t clear.”
White’s personal politics are indeed relatively unclear, and we admit that his statements weren’t exactly very helpful in that regard.
“I love politics, I think it’s a super fun theme for a Commander deck,” says White. “I mean, I love having debates with people, and really getting to see their perspective. I dunno why everybody is so divided about stuff all the time. I voted for time, you voted for money–what matters most is that I managed to resolve Expropriate and now I get to have tons of fun!”
“I find Connor to be a wonderful player at the table,” says local aristocrats player Elong Rusk, whose face most players remember because of his trademark thick moustache and Groucho Marx glasses. “He always manages to spice things up, and I appreciate him for counterspelling those nasty, un-fun stax effects people always target me with while I set up my value engines. Many of my creatures might die, yes, but I’m going to make so many Treasure tokens off of it thanks to my Warren Soultrader. So when it becomes Connor’s turn, I’ll certainly vote for bribery every time. It’s the least I can do for such a generous fellow player.”
We sat down with White, Volerio, and Rusk at their Commander table. The first few turns were totally amicable, but Rusk quickly assembled a combo engine on the same turn that White tutored for Time Sieve, and cheerfully told us that we didn’t need to actually put in the effort to vote anymore, because the outcome would be the same either way. Volerio died to Tivit Commander damage in White’s infinite turns combo, and we lost to Rusk’s staggering five hundred thousand Blood Artist triggers, which he swears he targeted exclusively at a transgender woman as a total coincidence.
