Budding Friendship Developing Between Magic Mayors Niv-Mizzet and Mamdani
TENTH DISTRICT, RAVNICA – In an interplanar meeting between the two, progressive New York mayor Zohran Mamdani and Niv-Mizzet, the living Guildpact, discussed their new relationship and how they’re both improving their cities one magical act at a time.
Niv-Mizzet has been hosting leaders from around the multiverse in the city of Ravnica due to the opening of omenpaths during the recent Phyrexian invasion.
“I’m happy to reach across the Blind Eternities to connect with my new friend here,” said Mamdani in a way that would make your conservative uncle furious for some reason. “It has been wonderful being able to connect with him, something unthinkable by many because he is a giant dragon who is the living soul of an entire world, and I’m just a mayor. However, we are both leaders of massive magical cities that host people from various lands and ways of thinking, and we want what is best for our people.
“So we’re not so different. When the people of New York need me, they can make a post on social media that will get me out to Queens to fix a bench faster than you can say ‘Eric Adams Sucks’. And when the people of Ravnica need Niv, they can telepathically link to him or a manifestation of his essence to fix a pothole. While I’m glad I don’t have to deal with Rakdos cultists, I can bet Niv is happy he doesn’t have to deal with Republicans who think I’m three different political ideologies and nationalities rolled into one country-destroying menace.”
The positive feelings are more than mutual, as a beaming Niv-Mizzet spoke about his time with Mayor Mamdani.
“Yes, Zohran and I began talking after he fixed the portal from Tenth District to Manhattan, which you can see behind me,” Niv-Mizzet proudly pointed out as he motioned to the omenpath behind him. “I am thankful that a human from his plane was able and willing to talk with us. During our initial meeting I asked him if all leaders on his side of the multiverse are as agreeable and hard-working as him. While he said there were some, sadly I could read his mind and see he was lying to me; but I won’t hold it against him if he keeps bringing me these Nathan’s Famous from his plane.”
At press time, Mamdani has yet to respond to a request by a moth with a fake moustache to fix the wooden door in the Bronx that leads to Duskmourn.
