Secret Lair Winter 2025 Superdrop Is Now Live

Josh Nelson • February 10, 2025

Keep those browsers open, Secret Lair aficionados! The Winter 2025 Superdrop was officially launched at the time of this article's publication. With seven different drops, this Superdrop is sure to appeal to many players. So, let's dive into what these Secret Lair drops contain and what the most sought-after cards are within the event's many drops! All of these drops are selling right now on the official Secret Lair website. They are each selling at a price point of $29.99 for nonfoil and $39.99 for foil.

Secret Lair x Hatsune Miku: Winter Diva

The first drop we want to examine is Secret Lair x Hatsune Miku: Winter Diva. When the first drop based on Hatsune Miku came out, people figured the copy of Snapcaster Mage

that was released as a secret bonus card was intended for this drop instead. However, this drop disproved this theory, and as such the most expensive card in the drop is Swan Song
, based on price points for other printings.

However, this doesn't mean that the other cards in the drop make this drop not worth buying. Whether or not you're a fan of the Vocaloid, Winter Diva has a bunch of cool cards for the discerning Brago

player. This drop also includes a reprint of the iconic, classic Counterspell
with Miku herself taking the original Counterspell
pose to ward off a paparazzi.

Aether Drifters

There is no clear-cut winner for the "most lucrative Aether Drifters card to sell" at this time. At the time of writing all of them are relatively inexpensive. However, due to past precedent in previous Secret Lair drops, the most likely card to be an easier sell would probably have to be Smuggler's Copter

. This card once saw much play in Standard. Furthermore, it will see plenty of play in Commander due to the likely proliferation of Vehicle-based decks spawning from Aetherdrift. Right now, the Smuggler's Copter
from the Fortnite drop sits at a pretty $17.60. This is why we made this determination, but there's really no telling whether these will be high sellers.

Arcade Racers

Much like the previous drop, the Arcade Racers Secret Lair drop doesn't provide a ton of value. However, the art is quite interesting and red players in particular will enjoy some of these cards more than the other drops' offerings. The card you'll want to watch is Final Fortune

, which is a minimum-$8 card right now at its cheapest printing. Let's face it, even with the game-losing downside, an extra turn spell at instant speed is really strong, especially in a color that doesn't typically take extra turns. As such, Final Fortune has seen play in quite a few decks including Obeka, Brute Chronologist
, and anything red that runs a Sundial of the Infinite
.

City Styles 2: Dressed to Kill

There is indeed an easy answer if you ask someone the card to watch for in City Styles 2: Dressed to Kill. It's Captain Sisay

! The original captain of the skyship Weatherlight makes her stunning return in this remarkably fashionable Secret Lair drop, itself a sequel to City Styles, which proved to also be a huge hit with players. In this drop, Sisay appears to be the main draw, but other cards including Veyran, Voice of Duality
and Karmic Guide
may also be contenders for high-value picks.

Featuring: Luke Pearson

Unfortunately for Hilda artist and illustrator Luke PearsonFeaturing: Luke Pearson does not contain a ton of secondary market value in its cards. The top card is Bear Umbra

, a card that, at its cheapest, is sitting under $7 at the time of writing. However, discerning fans of the artist's work should of course keep in mind that the Winter 2025 Superdrop is a limited release, as per the now-standard Secret Lair print model. As such, this drop will eventually be exhausted.

Featuring: Mitsuhiro Arita

Very distinctly from Featuring: Luke Pearson, the Featuring: Mitsuhiro Arita drop is most assuredly going to fetch a high value among a wide demographic of players and collectors alike. Mitsuhiro Arita's artwork has featured in various mediums, including the Bloomburrow borderless copy of Lumra, Bellow of the Woods

and the iconic Base Set Charizard from the Pokémon Trading Card Game. As such, many of these cards will be expensive after they sell out, and are very likely to sell out today.

The most expensive card we foresee to have value in this drop is Shorikai, Genesis Engine

. Shorikai is an extremely strong white-blue Vehicle commander who sees a lot of play in control builds in the Commander format. We expect this card to be the one to watch for financial upswings.

Auntie's Hovel, a card from the Lorwyn Lightboxes Secret Lair drop. Illustrated by Hari & Deepti.

Lorwyn Lightboxes

Lorwyn Lightboxes is a collection of lands from the original Lorwyn set from 2007. The lands therein are very specific to a few iconic creature types but none hold a ton of value. As such, we have to throw the answer away here. It's either going to be Auntie's Hovel

or Gilt-Leaf Palace
, although Wanderwine Hub
and Secluded Glen
are probably not too far behind.

Deflecting Swat, part of the Artist Series: Jesper Ejsing drop. Illustrated by Jesper Ejsing.

Artist Series: Jesper Ejsing

Rounding out the Winter 2025 Superdrop is Artist Series: Jesper EsjingJesper Ejsing is a well-beloved Magic artist and his works are quite cherished in many circles. As such, this is another drop we expect to sell out quickly. If this isn't because of Ejsing's fame in the Magic: The Gathering community, it's surely because Deflecting Swat

is a roughly $43 card at the time of this article's publication, and the most expensive card in the current lineup within the entire Superdrop. How about that?

With that, we advise you to take some time out of your busy day to get onto the queue and pick up these cards if you feel so inclined to. Are you excited about the Winter 2025 Secret Lair Superdrop? Sound off below!
