Magic Players Angry Their Secret Lair Experience Went the Same Way It Did the Last 10 Times
THE INTERNET — The latest Secret Lair Drop went live this week, and Magic: The Gathering players took to socials to report yet another frustrating experience that left them empty-handed, just as it had many times before.

“I can’t believe this happened again, and for the third time this month!” said Bluesky user Bront, who came up short when the new Secret Lair x MTV’s The Head drop sold out after an hour-long wait in line. “If this happens 7 or 8 more times in a row, then I’ll seriously reconsider my buying habits next time I’m in the Secret Lair Lounge,” they said in a later skeet.
In a post to the Facebook group The Mana Burn Center, another shopper explained how the method of failure repeatedly changing somehow gives them hope:
“The whole site used to just crash, then the queue would crash, then I’d wait for hours in the waiting room and it would sell out. This time, I waited in two different lines for two hours but managed to get it in my cart only for it to sell out again. So, I still haven’t ever bought a Secret Lair, but I can tell I’m getting really close!”

On Reddit, a self-post titled “I saved over $3300 this year in failed Secret Lair purchases” sat at the top of /r/magictcg with an impressive 98% upvote rate. In the thread, the original poster explains how the money saved is what keeps them coming back:
“I’m basically playing with the house’s money at this point. I mean, I’ve saved so much that if I actually get through, it’s like I’m getting it for free.”
Magic: The Gathering players won’t have to wait long to keep the streak going, as the next Secret Lair Mega Drop, which is comprised of six different Super Drops, goes on sale next week.
