First Look at the Marvel and Magic: the Gathering Crossover at NYCC

The Marvel and Magic: The Gathering crossover has been one of the most highly anticipated events in Magic's history.

Announced almost a year ago, details about what the collaboration would entail have been slim ever since.

But it appears that's all about to change next month.

The original announcement released last year

Marvel recently announced their slate of panels and exhibits at New York Comic Con, which takes place from October 17th through 20th at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.

Among the announced details is that they'll have the very first look at the collaboration at the Marvel booth, and that Magic: The Gathering will have its own panel on October 18th, at which we should expect several details, and potentially some previews, to be revealed for the upcoming release.

How many cards will there be? A full set? Multiple sets? Which comic book timeline(s) will they be using? When will it released?

And, most importantly, which superheroes and villains will get their own cards. Hopefully some of these questions will get answered at NYCC.

Based on the recent success of the Universes Beyond set Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth - and by success I mean one of the highest selling Magic sets of all time - we can expect that whatever the Marvel collaboration ends up being, fans of both Magic and Marvel will all be excited to get their hands on the cards.

After all, who doesn't want to play Commander with Spider-Man, Wolverine, or Magneto leading their decks?
