Extra Life Secret Lair Drop Revealed For 2024

Josh Nelson • October 8, 2024

For the past few years, Wizards of the Coast has worked tirelessly to benefit the Extra Life charity fund. An offshoot of the Children's Miracle Network Hospital, Extra Life teams up with game-based organizations like Wizards annually. In this way and others, they provide children with much-needed care through funding.

This year, Wizards is teaming up with the charity once again and offering the Pixel Perfect drop for Magic: The Gathering's Secret Lair initiative. But what is in Pixel Perfect? Press on, dear reader, and you shall find out.

The Pixel Perfect Secret Lair drop contains these four cards.

A Pixel Perfect Story

Pixel Perfect, a Secret Lair drop paying homage to 2-dimensional side-scroller video games, features four cards with a not-insubstantial amount of financial value to them.

Most notably, a copy of Fierce Guardianship is within this drop, a card currently valued at roughly $37 on the secondary market.

Delayed Blast Fireball, another card in Pixel Perfect, is valued at roughly $13. As there are two more cards in the drop, this puts Pixel Perfect at over a resounding $50 worth of value!

For reference, Pixel Perfect will sell for $39.99 in nonfoil and $49.99 for foil, with proceeds going to Extra Life as promised.

Other Extra Life Swag

If you're not a huge fan of the Secret Lair drop or physical merch in general, Wizards of the Coast is also offering Extra Life-themed goodies for Magic Arena.

For 600 gems, you can get one of two kinds of cosmetic sleeves for your digital decks. For 1,100 gems, you get a set of sleeves plus an avatar of Ajani, as depicted in the cards above.

Again, all proceeds will benefit the charity. Also, to clarify for those unaware, Ajani is Wizards' spokesperson (spokes-cat-person...?) for this charity. Pay no mind to the residual oil; it's probably nothing anymore.

Furthermore, you will be able to find themed apparel on the MTG Pro Shop webstore. This includes pins, stickers, shirts, and playmats, among other things. Emblazoned on each is Ajani, cosplaying splendidly as Nicol Bolas himself. Fearsome!
