Dungeons & Dragons Second Beholder Secret Lair Drop Revealed

Josh Nelson • August 15, 2024

Dungeons & Dragons, Wizards of the Coast's bestselling roleplaying game, is rapidly approaching its 50th Anniversary. As such, Wizards is commemorating the occasion with five new Secret Lair drops for Magic: The Gathering. We have covered the first three of these in previous articles, most notably the one from yesterday. Called Death is in the Eyes of the Beholder I, it showcases one of D&D's most iconic monsters. However, that isn't the only drop to feature the Beholder. Today, Nerdist publicly revealed Dungeons & Dragons: Death is in the Eyes of the Beholder II.

Karazikar, the Eye Tyrant, a card from Dungeons & Dragons: Death is in the Eyes of the Beholder II. The Secret Lair drop will be available on August 27th.

Death is in the Eyes of the Beholder II, much like Beholder I, features six reprinted cards, each with a Beholder theme. Unlike Beholder I, this drop contains cards more geared toward the black/red side of things. According to the article on Nerdist, the drop contains the following cards:

We showcased Karazikar in the above image. You can see the rest of these cards below:

Value is in the Eye of the Beholder

Will these cards be of much value from a financial standpoint? Looking at the list, the short answer is "no". The most expensive card on the drop's list is Snuff Out, which currently stands at around $8, give or take. The next two most expensive cards are Karazikar, the Eye Tyrant and Fire Covenant, both sitting around $6 apiece. However, every other card is sub-$2. While a foil Oubliette might be sought after, the blunt truth is that this Secret Lair drop, financially speaking, is nothing to write home about.

Be that as it may, the cards in this drop all have a home somewhere in decks. Therefore, don't let us stop you if you are collecting this drop strictly for its gameplay value. If you are indeed looking to pick these up, please keep in mind that the Secret Lair model of printing to demand is over. Wizards of the Coast has switched to a limited-print-run model. Based on precedent these will probably sell out, so prepare accordingly!
