Dungeons & Dragons' 50th Anniversary Secret Lair Announced

This year marks the 50th Anniversary of Dungeons & Dragons, Wizards of the Coast's hit role-playing game. As you may well know, Magic: The Gathering has already had multiple tie-in products with D&D. This includes Adventures in the Forgotten Realms and Commander Legends: Battle For Baldur's Gate. On Thursday, August 1st, Wizards of the Coast announced five new Secret Lair drops themed after D&D and its momentous 50th Anniversary.

The drops are meant to commemorate the aforementioned 50th Anniversary of D&D. They feature a bevy of reprinted cards with full-art treatments, including Karlach, Fury of Avernus, and Astarion, the Decadent. According to the press release that Wizards of the Coast put out today:

Magic: The Gathering announces Secret Lair x Dungeons & Dragons®, a series of five limited edition drops celebrating 50 years of the iconic fantasy tabletop role-playing game, beloved by more than 64 million fans worldwide.

The Secret Lair x Dungeons & Dragons® 50th Anniversary Superdrop will be on sale starting Tuesday, August 27, 2024 while supplies last. These limited drops represent five decades of Dungeons & Dragons, showcasing legendary characters such as the vampire rogue Astarion, the battle-hardened Karlach, and the always watching Beholder.

"Each of these Secret Lair drops represent the legacy and impact of Dungeons & Dragons and it's thrilling that Magic: The Gathering fans can be part of this celebration."

Each drop is priced at $29.99. A Foil Edition of each drop will also be available at $39.99 each. The drops will be available on MagicSecretLair.com and D&D Beyond Marketplace later this month.

These Secret Lair drops are, as is the new norm nowadays, on a limited-print basis. Therefore, these drops may sell out quickly if past precedent has anything to say. The drops launch online on August 27th and will sell for $29.99 for nonfoil versions of the drops, and $39.99 for foil versions.
