Doctor Who Actors "Gather For Good" For Charity Event

Josh Nelson • October 1, 2024

On Tuesday, October 1st, nonprofit charity organization War Child UK posted on Twitter about a charity sweepstakes. For this event, known as Gathering For Good 2024, numerous key-name actors from the hit BBC sci-fi show Doctor Who have signed a number of Magic: The Gathering cards. If one were to enter this sweepstakes they could win some of them!

Four names stand out in this event: Peter Capaldi (The Twelfth Doctor), Billie Piper (Rose Tyler), David Tennant (The Tenth Doctor), and Carey Mulligan (Sally Sparrow). For full disclosure, of note is the fact that Carey Mulligan is also the Ambassador for the War Child charity.

A Stream With Familiar Names

To further promote this charity event, at 8:00 PM British Standard Time (or 3:00 PM Eastern Time) on October 1st, War Child UK's gaming Twitch channel will host a Commander stream. This event will feature such names as Pleasant Kenobi, Spice8Rack, Wally, and Sahar Mirhadi.

Doctor Who Memorabilia Too?

Beyond the stream and the sweepstakes, there is also a charity auction happening on their website. Therein, Doctor Who is donating various pieces of memorabilia. This event seems to be pulling absolutely no punches for the children it is benefiting.

While it is not a guarantee that entry will provide a win, it is only $5 per entry to enter the sweepstakes. At the time of writing, not even an hour after this announcement on Twitter, Gathering For Good 2024 has made roughly $375. For less than an hour live, that's honestly not too shabby for this campaign!

All in all, the Gathering For Good 2024 charity event looks to be a major one. Big names from all over are coming together to ensure that this benefit goes swimmingly. If you plan to watch the stream a little later, enter the sweepstakes, or even bid on some memorable items, please feel free to sound off below!
