Chaos Vault Releases "Dogs Are Better Than Cats", Vice-Versa

Josh Nelson • March 17, 2025

On Monday, March 17th, Wizards of the Coast revealed the new Chaos Vault drop for Secret Lair. In fact, they actually revealed two of them. The drops are titled "Cats Are Better Than Dogs" and "Dogs Are Better Than Cats". These mechanically identical drop series entries are a bid to get consumers to vote with their wallets for which animal is superior. The voting will culminate in either an all-dog or all-cat Secret Lair Superdrop next year. What do these drops contain, and what animal is decidedly better? We can't answer that second question for you, but the first one we can take a crack at. Let's go ahead and look!

Dogs Are Better Than Cats

The "Dogs Are Better Than Cats" Chaos Vault drop contains the following five cards:

As you can see from the section above this one, these offerings are completely identical, mechanically speaking. Here are the renders of those cards in all their feline glory!

Chaos Vault Posits "____ Are Better Than  ____!"

Because both drops in this series are mechanically identical, this places the responsibility of determining which drop is a better seller to the consumer. Aesthetics could very well sell this drop series in one ay or another. Ultimately, it's up to the buyer to make the determination. We won't profess to tell you which one is more worth buying. However, we'll say our author certainly has their eye on one of them above the other.

Both Chaos Vault drops will begin shipping on Wednesday, March 19th. Both "Dogs Are Better Than Cats" and "Cats Are Better Than Dogs" are selling at $29.99 for nonfoil and $39.99 for the foil versions.

As you mull this drop series over, we open the floor for your discussion, dear readers. Are you a dog fan or a cat fan? Which animals have given you the best memories in life? Which are cooler? Sound off below!
